Annie Rabbitt was elected
Assemblywoman for the 97th District in November 2004 and represents 125,000 people in seven towns and eighteen villages in
Orange and Rockland counties.
Annie Rabbitt brings a wealth of local government
experience to the Assembly. Annie began her political career as the Greenwood Lake Chamber of Commerce President. She served
as a Village Trustee and Deputy Mayor of Greenwood Lake. She also served as a former Councilwoman and Deputy Supervisor for
the Town of Warwick.
As a community leader, Annie Rabbitt organized a Homeowners
Association of which she became President. She lobbied successfully to establish a Bi-State Commission. Annie has frequently
been referred to by many as the "Erin Brockovich of Greenwood Lake". Annie Rabbitt is a 1998 recipient of the Outstanding
Citizen Achievement Award and a 2001 recipient of the New York State Woman of Distinction Award for her continued dedication
to the community.
A third generation woman business owner, Annie Rabbitt
has successfully owned and operated her small business, O'Hare's Pub in Greenwood Lake, for the last 10 years.
Annie Rabbitt is the ranking Republican on the Assembly Local Government Committee. Annie also serves on the Aging
and Consumer Affairs and Protection Committee, and is a member of the sub-committee on the Child Product Safety. She was recently
nominated to serve as the Parliamentarian of the American Irish Legislators Society.
Shortly
after beginning her freshman term in Albany, Annie was unanimously elected by her colleagues as President of the Freshman
Class. Annie's successful leadership has brough together an innovative bipartisan group of new assembly members overcoming
party boundaries to further future success.
Annie Rabbitt's proudest accomplishment
has been raising her son Robert III, who is currently serving in the United States Coast Guard and her daughter Erin, a Police
Officer in New York City.
Annie resides in the Village of Greenwood Lake
with her husband Bobby, the Chief of Police for the Village of Greenwood Lake.
